through the woodland pines, the morning sang
i closed my eyes and felt the chilly air
i breathed in the scent of petrichor
the smell only found out there
i waited between those ancient stones
i waited for the rain
within my weary heart, i struggled to return
knowing i may be consumed by them finding me
at once, i was the bear that slept comfortably in the cave
like many before me, i longed for the same
though i took a long time to get here, the mountains may disagree
i clenched the thought between my fists
and met with the old ones that day
after sinking into the comfort of this moss bed
i set forth to the short-circuiting sky
to hold onto this hope that i am finding within
i danced the rest of the night on tomorrow's ashes
